Biography

​

Dr Issa is a Consultant Endocrinologist at Manchester University Foundation NHS Trust, The Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle and at The HCA Wilmslow Hospital. He has been a Consultant Endocrinologist since 1998 and has a wealth of experience in treating Endocrine disorders including Thyroid, Parathyroid, Pituitary disorders, Adrenal disease, reproductive endocrinology, disorders of bone and calcium metabolism, obesity and Diabetes and its complications. Having trained in Endocrinology in Manchester, Southampton and Cardiff where he conducted research in neuroendocrinology and was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree, he was appointment as Consultant Endocrinologist at North Manchester General Hospital where he led and developed the endocrine services. He was awarded FRCP in 2002 and was appointed as Consultant Endocrinologist at Wythenshawe Hospital in 2004 where he currently practices. He held the positions of speciality lead in Endocrinology, Clinical Director of Medical Specialities and Associate Medical Director for Medical Workforce. Research interests include adrenal disease, obesity and diabetes in pregnancy. He holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer post with the University of Manchester. He has a number of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
